LAST MINUTE MEMO

Dorrance Hall is a lovely facility and we are guests of Phoenix Country Day School.  The recital is an opportunity to teach the students fine art theatre conduct.  Please refrain from whistles and cat calls that are only appropriate at sporting events.  Your thunderous applause, laughter, joy, and if extra special, “bravo” will be appreciated.  Please keep children in their seats.   PLEASE, NO FLASH PHOTOS OR VIDEO DURING THE RECITAL.  All participants paid for a DVD and extra may be purchased for $20.

 

MORE TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR FRIENDS, FAMILY, NEIGHBORS:  $5.00

 

STUDENTS ARRIVE NO LATER THAN 2:30PM DRESSED IN COSTUME (IF ADVISED) WITH T-SHIRT COVER UP AND STAY WITH CLASS PARENT FOR THE ENTIRE SHOW.

 

LAST DAY OF CLASSES:  Saturday, May 8, 2010. There will be one week of classes after the show.

 

“BRING A FRIEND WEEK”:  Friends are welcome to try class May 3-8.  Referral fee forms are available at www.pssod.com.

 

PICTURES AND VIDEOS MAY BE PICKED UP IN THE STUDIO:  Beginning when classes resume Saturday, June 5, 2010 you may stop by, call or email to make arrangements for pick up.

 

 

 

 APRIL 2010 NEWSLETTER

 

NO CLASSES EASTER WEEKEND:  Saturday, April 3, 2010

 

LAST DAY OF TERM:  Saturday, May 8, 2010.  One week of classes remain after the recital.  BRING A FRIEND!  Fall schedules will be available.

 

ENROLL NOW FOR SUMMER TERM:  SAME SCHEDULE CONTINUES IN JUNE 5- JULY 31 PLUS WEEKLY JUNE DANCE CAMPS (AGE 7-12).  See www.pssod.com for current schedule.  Current students please make a $25 deposit for summer enrollment now so that I know how many are planning to attend.

 

PARENT WEEK:  April 12-17.   Bring costumes to check.  We will go over recital procedures and details, hand out tickets and answer questions.

 

PROFESSIONAL PHOTOS:  FRIDAY, APRIL 23, 2010, 4:00-7:00PM at PSSOD.  Enter front door and be dressed for photos.  See schedule on reverse side.  EVERYONE ATTEND SO THAT YOU ARE IN GROUP PHOTOS.  You will receive packets with forms so that you can customize you order.

 

RECITAL:  “DANCING USA”, an hour in length, will be at Dorrance Hall, 3:00pm Sunday, May 2, 2010, Phoenix Country Day School, 3900 East Stanford Drive, Paradise Valley, 85253

 

MANDATORY RECITAL DRESS REHEARSAL “Dancin’ USA” mandatory dress rehearsal will take place Saturday, May 1, 2010, 12:30-4:45pm. at Phoenix Country Day School.

Time:      students performing before intermission 1:00-3:15,

                students performing after intermission:  2:45-5:00 

                Procedure:  Class Parents attend and all follow same procedures as performance including costume, make up, and hair.  No food or drinks. 

 

PERFORMANCE PROCEDURES: Students arrive at 2:30 and report to class parent at designated area.  Pick up after performance will be determined by class parent instructions.  Wear costume, make up on, and hair styled, with t-shirt over if possible, headpieces, props and shoes in a bag, and names on all items.  Students stay with their class parent for the entire length of show.  No parents or friends are permitted on the stage or dressing room area at anytime.

 

RECITAL TICKETS:  General admission, 2 free tickets per family, 3 additional tickets available at $5.00 each (cash or make checks out to Pat Smith).  Tickets will be available at the studio beginning April 12. Cash or make checks out to Pat Smith

 

COSTUME ARRIVAL AND CARE:  Most costumes arrive by April 15.  They must be carefully put away so that wrinkles relax and so that students do not play with them.  No ironing since many fabrics could melt. Cash or make checks out to Pat Smith

 

T-SHIRTS: (included in recital fee):  We will use t-shirts as a cover up when students arrive at dress rehearsal and performance.  $10.00 FOR ADDITIONAL T’S

 

DVD: (included in recital fee):  Pick up at the studio beginning June 5^th.  $20 FOR ADDITIONAL DVD’S FOR RELATIVES.

Hi Parents and Students,

I miss you!  I hope you are having a nice summer and staying as cool as possible. 

Dance classes start in five weeks, Thursday, August 20^th!  If you have not registered please do so soon to get a place in the class of your choice and so that classes are not needlessly cancelled for lack of enrollment.  Pre-Combo classes usually fill first.  To register visit www.pssod.com for the schedule and form and send it in with the registration fee of $25 plus tuition.  If necessary, arrangements may be made for tuition to be paid in installments.  Some scholarship is available but must be applied for by August 1^st (see website scholarship).

This is an on-stage recital year with the theme, “Dancing USA”, to be performed in May.  There will be costumes, recital t-shirts, professional photos, and DVDs.  Don’t forget you can access the end-of-year class photos taken this year at www.pssod.com.

One free class will be offered to 2008-9 students who want to try an additional class the first two week of the term (maybe a new dance form; Modern, Ballet, Jazz Hip Hop) during.  List the free trial class you want to take on your registration form.

Save dollars!  You and your friends can receive $25 credit toward tuition for each new referral that enrolls.  Printable forms are available under the tab, “Bring a Friend Week”, at www.pssod.com., and they must be completed by a parent and included with the registration.  Friends are welcome the 1^st and 2^nd week of class.  It is always more fun to dance with friends.  Forward this message to friends.

Fabulous new teachers from ASU will join the staff.  Browse the schedule.  New classes and interests are available; Modern, Ballroom (there is some interest in a family ballroom class), Women’s Dance Exercise, etc.
