Holiday break: December 19-January 1
Parent watch day December 10-16, 2011: Please come see our progress. We are currently measuring for costumes and assigning roles for the recital, “Once Upon a Dream”, May 12 at Phoenix Country Day School. Choreography will begin next term so new students may still participate. May we borrow your white Christmas lights for scenery May 12? We will have a sign up sheet on parent day.
Last day of term: January 14, 2012; Boohoo, Ms. Becky is leaving , but Ms. McKenna, a former student and dance major, is taking her place . Good luck in Virginia Ms. Becky, we will miss you.
New term begins Monday, January 16, 2012: Tell a friend!
Tuition is due for the next term ($250/50 minute classes and $350/80 minute classes (payment plans available). No registration fee or new forms are needed for continuing students. Please advise if not continuing. We offer private or group classes for home schooled, scouts, boys, talent shows, etc. where space and time is available.
Winter Break Ballet Intensive: Intermediate Baller will be taught by Erin Lovrien December 19th-21st, 2011, 10am-2:30pm Mon/Tues/Wed. The cost is $140.00 for the 12 hours (10% discount for siblings only). There will be a 30 minute lunch break each day. Dancers, please bring a bag lunch. The intensive will include: Conditioning for Dance, Balance work, Technique Class (2+hrs), and Nutrition talks. We may also show a Ballet DVD for inspiration during lunch.
Free Child and Teen Yoga: I am currently studying to increase my yoga certification to 500 hours and may begin offering Children's Yoga Classes in 2012. I am offering the following free classes on three Saturdays: 480-946-9269 or pat@pssod.com to reserve a space (limit 15). Tell your friends.

Yoga can help counter the stress experienced by young people in a hurry up world. It also helps promote self-health, relaxation, inner fulfillment, flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness in a non-competitive atmosphere.
Introduction to Adult Yoga: Great gift idea! Tuition is $50 for the 4 week session, Thursday, January 5-26, 9:00-10:20am. Mindful of your needs and abilities the session will introduce beginning or returning yoga students basic poses, breathing and relaxation techniques and increase flexibility, strength, and balance. After the session we will continue at the same day and time for students interested in a gentle restorative class. Rates are now $10 per class with a $100 punch card, good for one year.

Summer: June and July: Weekly classes as well as intensive week long camps will be available for age 3-teens.

WELCOME NEW AND RETURNING STUDENTS TO PAT SMITH SCHOOL OF DANCE 2011-12
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for enrolling at PSSOD, dance and yoga studio. We have a great schedule with enthusiastic highly trained teachers from ASU and UA ready to share their expertise. Most classes are still open for enrollment. “BRING A FRIEND” the first two weeks and if they enroll you receive $25 credit toward tuition. Special private and group classes can be arranged to prepare for auditions, talent shows, ballroom, etc. NEW JAZZ HIP HOP FOR BOYS AND GIRLS, age 6-12, Monday 4:00-4:50.
SUMMER: Summer Princess Camp and Intensive Ballet with Erin Lovrien were very successful as well as weekly classes for June, July, and August with Rebecca Ferrell. Summer is a good value with lower monthly tuition and no registration fee. I plan to keep this schedule starting fall classes after Labor Day.

New teacher, Rebecca A. Ferrell, teaching Wednesday evening Teens and Saturday Combo classes: Ms Becky is a native of Richmond, Virginia, is a dance educator, performer, and choreographer. She recently received her MFA in Dance from Arizona State University and holds a BFA in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University. Rebecca’s work has been seen at VCU Dance, ASU Dance, Grace St. Theater, The Firehouse Theatre, The Carpenter Center, Sycamore Rouge, The McGuffey Theater, Art 6, Gallery5, Tempe Center for the Arts, Scottsdale Public Art, PHX Gallery, Modified Arts, St. Catherine's and ODU, where she was one of eight choreographers selected out of the VA, DC, and MD area to take part in the Regional Choreographer’s Showcase. In addition to choreographing, Rebecca has been delighted to be a dancer and teaching artist with the Z Mullins Dance Company since 2006. She is currently teaching at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and is the Artistic Director of FDance, an organization dedicated to her own choreographic endeavors including dance films. |

FIRST YOGA CLASS FREE: (new students only) taught by Pat Smith, RYT since 2001
Come nurture yourself in a friendly safe environment, create energy, reduce stress, and develop strength and flexibility. $10 per class and $16 for two per week when paid by term and $16 by the class.

ALL-STUDIO PERFORMANCE ON STAGE IN MAY: A mandatory dress rehearsal will take place Friday, May 11, 2012, in the afternoon at Phoenix Country Day School, 3901 E Stanford Drive, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253. The one hour recital, in the same location, will be the afternoon of Saturday, May 12, 2012, the day before Mother’s Day. Costumes will be ordered by December 1st. $160 RECITAL FEE IS DUE BY NOVEMBER 1ST (includes costume, DVD, t-shirt). All students are encouraged to participate.
PARENT MAY OBSERVE ON WATCH DAYS: September 26 - October 1, December 10 – 16, February 6 – 11, April 16 – 21. Parents are welcome to watch the 1st class their child takes to be assured of comfort with the teacher and setting but then we ask that there be dancers only during class time.
