Summer Schedule 2011

Enroll for 2011 Summer Dance Camps and Intensives with Ms. Erin. Please register by May 25.

Pat Smith School of Dance is excited to have Erin Lovrien conduct week-long camps and intensives in June and July.  Erin, a graduate of the University of Arizona in dance, has been teaching at PSSOD since August 2010 and currently performs as a member of Center Dance Ensemble.

Students are welcome to sign up for any and all weeks that they are available. There is no prerequisite for any camp. There will be a presentation for the parents during the last day of class. Students who attend ballet intensives and improve may have an opportunity for a solo or special group dance in the 2012 on-stage recital. Tuition is due the Wednesday prior to class starting. Early drop off and late pick up arrangements may be made if needed. Scholarship is available for continuing students age 6 and up.

Young Dancer's Princess Camp: age 3-6, $130 (discounted if multiple weeks) 9:00-11:00 AM
Each day young movers will learn dance steps themed around a classic Princess character. Ballet, tap, and tumbling will be taught. We will talk about princess etiquette, including values like gratitude and respect. The young dancers will take home a hand-colored picture of the Princess of the day as well as special memories of dancing and the new steps they've learned. June 20-24, June 27-July 1, July 11-15, July 18-22

Ballet for the Stars: age 10+, $175 (discounted if multiple weeks) 12:30-3:00 PM
If your dancing star has a desire to learn ballet, this is the camp for them. Each week will be centered on learning a Ballet Variation from a famous Ballet. Students will learn the names of the choreographer and composer as well as when the dance was created. Our time each day will be divided into a ballet class, conditioning, pointe work preparation, and learning the Variation. Each Friday there will be a presentation for parents to see the Variation and new elements of Ballet Technique that their child has learned. June 13-17, June 20-24, June 27-July 1, July 11-15, July 18-22

Dance to Advance Lyrical Jazz/Hip Hop: age 10+, $125 (discounted if multiple weeks) 3:00-5:00 PM
Beginning and intermediate dancers are welcome. The first week of camp will focus on lyrical jazz technique. Students will learn a dance to perform Friday during class (parents welcome). The second week will revolve around learning hip hop moves and a combination to be performed on Friday. Each week we will view clean jazz and hip hop dances being performed in the professional dance world to give students a sense of what dancers do when they become professionals. June 20-24, June 27-July 1

High School Musical "Dance Party": age 9-13, $125 (discounted if multiple weeks) 3:00-5:00 PM
This is the camp to experience! Using music from the popular "High School Musical", students will warm-up with their favorite songs from the movie and spend the week learning dances performed in the film. The week long camp will culminate in a performance for family and friends on Friday. July 11-15

Break it Down Jazz/Hip Hop Combo: age 6-9, $125 (discounted if multiple weeks) 3:00-5:00 PM
Does your child love to move? Get him or her dancing this summer with a jazz/hip hop combination camp. Students will learn exercises for warming-up and stretching their muscles. Using clean contemporary music, students will learn to dance hip hop moves and jazz technique. They will also learn a routine to be performed for the parents on the last day of class.
