| The "Walk That Others May Dance" walkathon raises funds for dance scholarship. This very successful mode of fundraising was established in 1998 to reduce the cost of dance lessons for talented and motivated students who wish to develop their skills by taking multiple classes. | ![]() |

The three-mile event is scheduled at a park in early March and walkers ask sponsors to pay them to walk. Those who complete the walk (wagons and strollers are acceptable for little ones) receive a certificate of completion. Teams of walkers, comprised of members of each class plus their parent team leader, compete for prizes in the following categories: most money raised by a team, most spirited team with unique appearance, and most money raised by an individual. |
| The event takes about two hours beginning with a group stretch and finishing with a dance performance and announcement of winners. Local businesses and parents donate water, healthy snacks, and prizes. | ![]() |
